Match Overview

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s Northern Rising event took place at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, streaming live on Triller TV on May 10, 2025. The historic venue added extra significance to an already landmark evening, as two inaugural Canadian championships were crowned for the very first time.

Three title bouts were on the card, two of which crowned new Canadian champions. In the main event, Josh Alexander won the inaugural MLP Canadian Championship by last eliminating Matt Cardona, outlasting 18 entrants including Rhino, PCO, Rich Swann, and El Phantasmo to claim the title.

Gisele Shaw made history by becoming the first-ever MLP Women’s Canadian Champion, defeating Kylie Rae with a decisive big boot and headscissors takedown in a hard-hitting affair. Thom Latimer retained the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship by defeating Stu Grayson, while Speedball Mike Bailey defeated both Gabe Kidd and Michael Oku in a thrilling triple threat match.

The Bullet Club War Dogs (David Finlay and Drilla Moloney) and The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) ended in a double count out in another exciting contest on the card.
