UFC 328 Chimaev vs Strickland takes place this weekend at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, streaming live on Paramount+. The main event features an undefeated Khamzat Chimaev putting his perfect record on the line against Sean Strickland in a highly anticipated UFC Middleweight Championship contest. The co-main event features UFC Flyweight Champion Joshua Van defending his title against the highly skilled Tatsuro Taira. Van claimed the championship in December following an unfortunate injury to Alexandre Pantoja during the bout, and now faces the challenge of proving his legitimacy as champion against one of the most technically dangerous grapplers in the division. Van holds a professional record of 16-2, with his only defeats coming via a knockout loss to Charles Johnson and a submission defeat to Damon Jackson early in his career. Taira earned his title shot with an impressive finish of Brandon Moreno, becoming the first fighter to stop Moreno with strikes. Before that victory, he defeated a short-notice opponent before suffering the first loss of his career in a close split decision against Brandon Royval.

The remainder of the main card delivers compelling matchups throughout. Alexander Volkov and Waldo Cortes-Acosta collide in a significant Heavyweight bout between two of the division’s most dangerous strikers. Cortes-Acosta had an outstanding 2025, finishing multiple opponents and demonstrating perhaps the most durable chin in the promotion. Volkov, however, has evolved significantly as a fighter in recent years, developing a more measured and technical approach that has served him well against powerful opponents. His ability to control distance with his jab and work behind a disciplined game plan could prove to be the deciding factor in this matchup. Sean Brady and Joaquin Buckley square off in a compelling Welterweight contest, while King Green and Jeremy Stephens round out the main card with another exciting bout.
