Match Overview

UFC Freedom 250 WhiteHouse takes place this Sunday night live on Paramount+ from the White House South Lawn in Washington D.C., featuring 14 fighters competing across one of the most unique and spectacular settings in combat sports history. This historic event delivers two championship bouts headlining what promises to be an unforgettable evening of elite mixed martial arts competition.

The main event of the evening is a Lightweight Championship Unification bout between UFC Lightweight Champion Ilia Topuria and interim titleholder Justin Gaethje. Gaethje earned his interim title shot with an impressive victory over Paddy Pimblett and will be looking to become the undisputed Lightweight Champion with a victory over Topuria. However, doing so against the heavy-handed Topuria will require Gaethje to maintain his composure and avoid his tendency to overcommit on big swinging shots, as such an approach against a striker of Topuria’s caliber could prove costly.

The co-main event features former two-division UFC Champion Alex Pereira looking to make history by capturing a record-setting third championship belt, this time at Heavyweight, as he takes on Ciryl Gane for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship. A victory would cement Pereira’s legacy as one of the most accomplished champions in UFC history.

Opening the main card is an exciting Featherweight showdown between former title challenger Diego Lopes and rising contender Steve Garcia. Lopes enters the bout coming off a title fight defeat and will be looking to bounce back against a dangerous opponent. Garcia arrives having built an impressive seven-fight winning streak that includes notable victories over Calvin Kattar and David Onama, earning him the number nine ranking at Featherweight. A victory over Lopes would push Garcia firmly into the top five and closer to a championship opportunity.

Middleweight contender Bo Nickal also features on the card, looking to build on his recent momentum following a strong knockout victory over Rodolfo Vieira at UFC 322. Nickal takes on Kyle Daukaus, who has strung together six consecutive victories since returning to the promotion and enters the bout in the best form of his career. While Nickal’s elite wrestling credentials are well documented, his striking continues to develop with each outing, making him an increasingly well-rounded threat. Sean O’Malley also competes on the card, looking to re-establish himself among the elite of the Bantamweight division following recent setbacks. Despite those results, O’Malley’s resume includes notable victories over Petr Yan, Aljamain Sterling, and Yadong Song, and he remains a genuine contender capable of competing at the highest level.
